They key is to look at the wallpaper and assess it.<\/p>\n<p>If it&#8217;s securely attached to the surface, not peeling at the corners and with no bubbles or creases, you&#8217;ve got a solid base.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Stripping the wallpaper can damage the underlying plaster or speciality drywall in many luxury homes.<\/p><div class=\"gdmag-content-2\" id=\"gdmag-1960069710\" data-cfpa=\"19928\" data-cfpw=\"19928\"><div class=\"gdmag-adlabel\">Advertisements<\/div><!-- code from Primis - granddesignsmagazine.com -->\r\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" language=\"javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/live.primis.tech\/live\/liveView.php?s=116493&schain=1.0,1!grv.media,65,1\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- code from Primis --><\/div><script type=\"text\/javascript\">;new advadsCfpAd( 19928 );<\/script>\n<p>You don&#8217;t want to tear into high-end finishes, risk getting off track and lose the plot.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, if you&#8217;re wanting a supreme finish it might be better to take your time and get stripping, explains Jimmy Englezos, senior brand manager at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ronseal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ronseal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you&#8217;re wanting a perfect finish, it is often better to strip and paint the wall from scratch. Even if it looks good on day one, adhesion issues may show up quickly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Additionally, if there are any signs of damp or mould.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Painting over structural or moisture issues simply masks the problem, trapping vulnerabilities behind layers of paint. Make sure you&#8217;re not soaking the surface, use a sponge to apply the cleaning product, and gently wipe it over the wallpaper.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stir the paint<\/strong><br \/>\nBefore applying the paint, make sure to give it a thorough stir to ensure colour consistency. If using more than one tin of the same colour, mix them together.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Apply the paint<\/strong><br \/>\nUsing a paint roller, apply the paint to the wallpaper surface ensuring an even coat.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leave to dry<\/strong><br \/>\nLeave this to dry for at least one hour.
